Simple Kitchen

My mother-in-law passed away recently and we found this chalkboard canister when we were going through her things. I had no idea what I was going to do with it at the time but I knew I loved it and wanted to keep it. Today it sits in my kitchen and holds my favorite, most frequently used cooking utensils.

I have a drawer full of cooking utensils but found that I always pulled out the same ones when preparing meals. So since I am the Simple Mama I thought why not keep my favorites out where I can get to them faster! And for those of you who know me, you know that I dislike having things out on my kitchen counter. Like “You better not leave your old mail and junk just lying around for very long or I will throw it out” kind of dislike. (Horrible, right? But I’m working on it!)

Sometimes the first step to organizing something is to simplify. So here they are….my 5 little cooking favorites. My class pets of the kitchen. A whisk, wooden spoon, rubber spatula, flat spatula, and tongs.
Exciting, right?

I love seeing it daily and being reminded of my precious mother-in-law. And she would’ve loved that.
