Recently, my daughter came home from church with a memory
verse written on an envelope. I kept finding this envelope in random places all
throughout our home-in the car, the garage (not sure why it was there!), on top
of the washing machine, in Channing's room.
Her sweet Sunday School teacher had written it down for her
and little did she know how this would impact my life. I have never been very
good at memorizing scripture. I can paraphrase it, or if I’m lucky I can kinda,
sorta know about where to find it in
the Bible. But I’ve honestly never put forth the effort to hide His words in my
heart (Psalm 119:11) like I know I need to.
When Channing could recite this memory verse to me (and
still can weeks later!) it really put a stirring in my heart to work on this.
So here I am challenging myself in this area of memorizing scripture and I’m
inviting you to join me! My goal is to memorize at least 1 scripture each month. And I have chosen to begin with the very verse that was written on the back
of an envelope by a sweet lady who was probably rushing to write it down for
the dozen other kiddos in her class. ;)
"Do what the Lord says is good and right and things will go
well for you." Deuteronomy 6:18
