The Backyard

I had totally planned to blog about something else entirely. Then something really silly and childish and petty happened this afternoon. And I got all in a huff.

Then my husband sent me these photos. He is in the Dominican Republic on a mission trip. And it really put things into perspective.

This is one family's backyard.

And this is their food for the day. For 7 people.

Can I just say...let's get over ourselves (me included). The troubles I face in no way compare to what some people face. Every single day.

Lord,
Thank you for reminding me to be grateful. Help me. Help us. To forgive. To love. To be gracious. To not take things for granted. To want less instead of more. Forgive us for being selfish and childish and petty. Let your Good News be poured out from the way I live my life. And thank you for my backyard.
