Spring Cleaning

Welcome back to Simple in '16! First of all, I apologize for the late start on our project this month. We have been enjoying this gorgeous weather so much that it has made me feel like procrastinating a little. I know...mark it on your calendars, right?!? That time when the Simple Mama procrastinated!! {It actually happens more than you'd think!} Not to worry. I have our next project ready...just in time for the weekend!! Grab your rubber gloves, vacuum, and favorite cleaner and let's get ready to do some work because it is time for...

Take a few deep breaths. It will be ok. Spring cleaning is never fun to think about, but once you start you won't want to stop! To me, spring cleaning is all those little cleaning projects that don't need to be done every month (and really, who has time to do that?!?). They only need to be done a few times a year (and some of them only once a year!). Your baseboards and ceiling fans are already excited. I can just sense it. ;)

My #1 go-to item for spring cleaning is my vacuum cleaner. All the attachments on it are perfect for sucking up all that dust in hard to reach places.

Warning: random vacuum story coming up. When I finished my training to become a dyslexia therapist about 12 years ago I asked for a Dyson vacuum cleaner from my husband and a bible from my mom. Both of which I still love and use often. All I really need in life is a good vacuum and my bible. Amen. This concludes the random story portion of this post. #lovemesomerandomstories #andrandomhashtags

Basically what you want to do is vacuum the dust, then wipe down the surface with a mild cleaner. I love magic erasers for baseboards and any mild all-purpose cleaner for everything else. So get your face mask ready. The dust is about to fly. Here's your spring cleaning checklist:

1. Baseboards
2. Ceiling Fans
3. Top of refrigerator/armoires
4. Blinds/windows
5. Behind appliances (stove, fridge, washer/dryer)

I'll be honest. I think we lived in our house for at least 5 years before I ever cleaned behind our large appliances. And you would think it wouldn't get that dirty back there. I mean it's covered up right?!? Wrong. It's gross back there. The dust alone could make me sneeze for a week. Once I realized this, I haven't missed our yearly spring cleaning date yet. Oh and if you have little ones, you will probably find that favorite toy that has been missing underneath one of those big appliances. ;) See...your family will love it when Spring Cleaning time comes around every year!!

Leave me a comment with your favorite Spring Cleaning tip so I can steal borrow from you too! And don't forget to find me on Pinterest and follow my I <3 Cleaning board.------>

XOXO,
Michelle
